Both Teams to Score Meaning: BTTS Yes and No Explained

BTTS stands for “both teams to score.” BTTS Yes requires each team to score at least once; BTTS No requires at least one team to finish without scoring.

The winner and final goal total don’t decide this market. What matters is whether both teams score within the specified period.

1. How BTTS Yes and No Work

BTTS Yes qualifies with results such as 1–1, 2–1, or 2–2. Each team has scored, regardless of whether the match ends in a win or draw.

BTTS No qualifies with results such as 1–0, 0–2, or 0–0. A goalless draw counts as No because neither team scored.

2. BTTS Is Different From Total Goals

A goal-total market counts how many goals were scored. BTTS checks whether both teams contributed.

For example:

  • 1–1: BTTS Yes wins, but over 2.5 loses.

  • 3–0: Over 2.5 wins, but BTTS Yes loses.

  • 2–1: Both BTTS Yes and over 2.5 win.

BTTS Yes therefore guarantees at least two goals, but two goals don’t guarantee BTTS Yes: a 2–0 result is the exception.

Compare our guides to under 2.5 goals and over 0.5 and over 1.5 goals for more scoreline examples.

3. Check the Full Market Label

Standard full-match BTTS markets generally cover 90 minutes plus stoppage time, excluding extra time and penalty shootouts unless stated otherwise.

Other labels change the requirements:

  • First-half BTTS: both teams must score during the first half.

  • Second-half BTTS: both must score during the second half.

  • BTTS and match result: both teams must score and the selected result must occur.

A 1–1 draw qualifies for standard BTTS Yes, but not for “home win and BTTS Yes.” Check the provider’s settlement rules for abandoned matches and other exceptions.

4. Resources for BTTS Research

Historical BTTS frequencies, scoring records, and clean-sheet patterns can provide context. They don’t establish the probability of the next match on their own.

  • FootyStats provides team statistics and BTTS-related research.

  • OddAlerts combines configurable research tools, alerts, and BTTS functionality.

  • SoccerVista publishes BTTS forecasts alongside supporting match information.

These represent different approaches: examining statistics, configuring research, and browsing published forecasts. Check competition coverage, feature restrictions, and access before choosing a resource.
