Under 2.5 goals means the combined total scored by both teams must be two or fewer. A standard full-match selection wins with zero, one, or two goals and loses with three or more.
The match winner doesn’t matter—only the total goals within the market’s specified period.
Add both teams’ goals together to work out the result.
The half-goal line creates a clear boundary: a match cannot finish with exactly 2.5 goals, so there is no push caused by the total landing on the line.
Standard full-match goal totals generally cover 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are excluded unless the market states otherwise.
Check whether you’re looking at:
Match goals: both teams’ goals combined.
Team goals: only the named team’s goals.
First-half or second-half goals: goals within that period only.
For example, a match finishing 1–1 after normal time remains under 2.5 for a standard 90-minute market, even if more goals follow in extra time. Abandoned matches and other exceptions depend on the provider’s settlement rules.
Both teams to score asks whether each team scores—not how many goals the match produces.
A 1–1 result satisfies both BTTS Yes and under 2.5. A 3–0 result satisfies neither: one team failed to score, but the combined total reached three.
Goal-total markets can also overlap. A 1–0 result qualifies for both over 0.5 and under 2.5. See our over 0.5 and over 1.5 goals guide for the lower thresholds.
For a higher threshold, compare over and under 3.5 goals.

SoccerSTATS.com provides league and team goal statistics.
Betamin Builder supports historical strategy testing, including over/under 2.5 goals.
ProSoccer publishes under/over 2.5 estimates alongside match-outcome probabilities.
Before relying on a resource, check the competition coverage, sample period, and access restrictions. Historical frequencies and model estimates are not guarantees of future results.
